A Bit About Me

A Bit About Me

Hi I'm Hollie, I'm 24 years old from England and have a massive passion for cars, motorbikes and well anything fast really. My love for fast cars first began when I was really young, watching Formula 1 on a Sunday. I soon started visiting places with my dad like Goodwood Festival of Speed (where I saw Lewis Hamilton and got to go passenger in a Bowler Wildcat Paris-Dakar Rally Car) and Santa Pod which had some amazing drag racing, something I'd never seen before.

When I finally got to my 17th birthday I was delighted to find my present consisted of driving lessons.

6 Months later - I had passed!! :)

My first car was a present from my boyfriend, it was only a Ford KA but I LOVED it!

Put it this way, in my first years driving I rarely left my little village and managed to clock up 49,000 miles on the clock.

On Christmas day my mum handed my dad and I 2 matching envelopes, I opened mine first to find an experience day driving an Audi R8 round Prestworld Race Course in Leicestershire. Wow, was I excited!!

Eventually the day arrived, we were up bright and early, eagerly waiting for our trip to begin. Just arriving at Prestworld got my blood pumping, seeing all the beautiful cars flying around this amazing track. We parked the car, signed in and had a safety briefing. We picked our helmets and was shown the waiting/spectators area.

As I opted for the DVD option, dad got to go first as I waited for the Audi R8 fitted with the cameras to come back in from its previous drive/ragging.

"Hollie to Silver R8" Ahhhhhh excited was an understatement, I winked at my mum and dad and skipped off to my Audi. The driver told me a bit about the car(obviously I had already researched most of its stats previous to this day) and I was ready.

I put the shiny chrome and leather gearstick in first gear and slowly lifted up the clutch (trying not to stall in the pits full of spectators), I followed the coned area and waited till it was 'safe' to pull onto track.
'Safe' meaning no other cars approaching the start.

I have added the video for you too see. Please note I was new to driving, nervous and OVERLY excited!

I know I say thank you in the vid like 20 times but I was on a buzz after that.

So to conclude as you can probably tell, I loved it and couldn't wait till my next test drive. I would definitely recommend Prestworld Race Track as it was exciting, fast and the instructors were lovely. The track its self is 1.8 miles long and has fast straights and high speed corners.
I will put a link at the bottom for Everyman(or woman) Experience days at Prestworld.

Just noticed on their website they also do 'Junior' Experiences days, where age 11 and up can actually drive! Something I would have loved to have known years ago.

One more thing the day I went there, there was Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Aston Martins, Porsches and obviously Audis on the track and the fastest 'lap of the day' was set by an instructor in the Super Charged Mini, something to bear in mind. Maybe my next venture........
